Storage, boosters and billing

Buying extra storage and boosters, how balances roll over, folders and purge, what happens when a subscription stops, and exporting your files.

On a paid plan you can add capacity from the dashboard: extra storage that renews with your plan, and one-time boosters. This page explains how each is billed and used, how folders and cache purges work, and what happens to your files if a subscription stops. Prices are on the pricing page.

Buying capacity

  • Storage blocks and boosters are bought only in the dashboard, by a user with the admin role. API keys, the SDKs and the MCP server can read your capacity (GET /v1/quota) but cannot buy anything.
  • The server sets every price. Rupiah payments go through DOKU (QRIS below Rp 30.000, QRIS or virtual account from Rp 30.000). Dollar and rupee payments go through Dodo Payments, with a minimum of $2.00 or ₹129 per checkout.
  • Not available on Free, the Sandbox or test keys (sp_test_).

Extra storage

For WordPress Pro and Business (with Cloud Offload) and API Velocity and Momentum. Buy it on the Billing page.

  • Sold in 10 GB blocks that renew with your plan, monthly or yearly. A yearly block costs 10 times the monthly price.
  • Adding blocks: you pay the prorated amount for the rest of the current period, and the space is ready as soon as the payment is confirmed. From the next renewal the blocks are billed in full.
  • Removing blocks: takes effect at the next renewal, with no refund for the current period. It is refused while you store more than the new limit, and the dashboard shows how much to delete first. You can cancel a scheduled reduction before the renewal.
  • Storage full: new uploads to SmallPict storage are refused (402 storage_quota_exceeded) and files already stored keep being served. The WordPress plugin keeps new uploads on your own server.
  • Maximum total storage: Pro 50 GB, Velocity 200 GB, Business and Momentum 10 TB.

Boosters

Boosters are one-time top-ups, bought on the Billing or Usage page.

BoosterPlansOne stepExpires
Quota BoosterWordPress Starter, Pro, Business500 MB of upload quotaNever
Transform BoosterAPI Ignite, Velocity, Momentum1,000 transformationsNever
CDN BoosterWordPress Pro, Business, API Velocity, Momentum10 GB of CDN bandwidth12 months after payment
  • Order of use: your plan's monthly quota is used first, then boosters (the one that expires soonest first), then the plan's overage buffer. When all of them are used up, new jobs are refused with 402.
  • Rollover: unused booster balance carries over to the next period. Your plan's monthly quota does not; it resets every month.
  • Frozen balance: if the subscription of that product stops (a payment failed after the grace period, it was cancelled, or it moved to Free), the balance is frozen and cannot be used. It becomes active again when you subscribe again. A CDN Booster's 12 months keep running while it is frozen, and we email you 30 and 7 days before its bandwidth expires.
  • When a balance is lost: only when the account is deleted, or when a CDN Booster passes its 12 months.
  • CDN bandwidth: counted per billing period. Above your plan's bandwidth, a CDN Booster pays for the extra bytes. Without one, you get a grace of 10% of your plan's bandwidth; after that, images on the SmallPict CDN are answered with 429 until the next period or until you buy a CDN Booster. You get an email at 80% and at 100%.
  • Limits: some plans have a limit per billing period. The dashboard shows how many steps you can still buy.
  • Refunds: a booster you have not used at all can be refunded within 7 days of purchase. A partly used booster cannot be refunded. See the Refund Policy.

Your own storage and CDN

While your own storage and CDN are connected (see Bring your own storage + CDN):

  • You cannot add storage blocks. Blocks you already have keep running until you remove them, because files stored before the switch stay in SmallPict storage.
  • You cannot buy CDN Boosters. Your remaining balance is still shown, and Quota and Transform Boosters can still be bought.
  • Switching between SmallPict storage and your own does not move files. Old files stay where they are and their URLs keep working.

Folders and purge

  • Pass an optional folder when you upload through the API or an SDK, for example products/2026. Files uploaded without one stay where they are. On WordPress, each site is its own folder.
  • The Assets page filters by folder and shows the number of files and their size per folder.
  • You can clear cached copies of one image, one folder or all your files, on the Assets page or with POST /v1/purge. Folder purges are limited to 10 per hour, purges of all files to 2 per hour.
  • With your own CDN, purges go to your CDN, and what your provider charges for them (such as CloudFront invalidations) is yours to pay.

When a subscription stops

This applies to files in SmallPict storage. Files in your own storage are never touched.

  1. Failed payment: you have a 7-day grace period. Images keep being served, and the email gives the exact date they will stop.
  2. Day 0 (the grace period ends, the subscription is cancelled at the end of its period, or the plan moves to Free or Sandbox): images of that product stop being served and its files become read-only. You can still sign in to pay or to export.
  3. Day 0 to 89: pay to restore everything. Images are served again within about 2 minutes of a confirmed payment. We email you on days 0, 7, 30, 60, 83 and 89 with the deletion date, a payment link and an export link.
  4. Day 90: the files, including every stored version, are deleted permanently.

Invoices and payment records are kept and never deleted automatically. Removing storage blocks while you keep paying does not start this cycle.

Exporting your files

On the Usage page you can export every file in SmallPict storage, or one folder. The export is prepared in the background, usually within a minute, and gives you download links valid for 24 hours. One export runs at a time. Export works while your account is active and while it is read-only (day 0 to 89).

Closing your account

When you ask for your account to be deleted (DELETE /v2/api/account/data), it is closed 7 days later, and you can cancel the request until then. Closing deletes your files in SmallPict storage and any booster balance. Invoices are kept.
