BYO-Storage Provider

High-Performance S3 NVMe Storage Backend (Bring Your Own CDN)

Store high-volume optimized image assets using SumoPod Object Storage (https://storage.sumopod.com). Built on scalable NVMe object storage infrastructure with native S3 compatibility, SumoPod is a dedicated storage provider designed to be paired with any third-party CDN of your choice.

SumoPod Architectural Notice: BYO-Storage & BYO-CDN Architecture

SumoPod operates strictly as a dedicated, high-performance S3-compatible NVMe object storage provider (https://storage.sumopod.com) and does not provide an integrated CDN edge network. When choosing a Bring-Your-Own-Storage (BYO-Storage) model, it automatically pairs with a Bring-Your-Own-CDN (BYO-CDN) workflow.

SmallPict provides Managed CDN and Managed Storage exclusively for SmallPict's own managed platform; SmallPict does not provide managed CDN services for custom BYO-Storage setups. Customers may use any external CDN platform (e.g., Akamai, Cloudflare, Namecheap CDN, Fastly, Bunny CDN) or serve directly from storage origin (at your own risk). SmallPict fully supports third-party CDNs: simply enter your SumoPod S3 credentials and custom BYO-CDN domain in the SmallPict dashboard to automatically route optimized assets through your CDN.

Integration Primer

SumoPod Object Storage + Custom BYO-CDN Integration

How your cloud storage origin, SmallPict's ephemeral optimization engine, and the global edge delivery network work in perfect harmony.

1. Dedicated Storage Origin

SumoPod Object Storage is a dedicated NVMe-backed S3-compatible cloud storage repository (https://storage.sumopod.com) engineered for high-throughput media vaults and cost predictability.

2. SmallPict Ephemeral Engine

SmallPict is a next-generation media optimization platform that seamlessly intercepts image uploads, converts them into modern AVIF and WebP formats in ephemeral memory buffers, strips redundant EXIF metadata, resizes dimensions, and pushes optimized files straight to your cloud storage bucket.

3. Custom BYO-CDN Delivery

SumoPod is a dedicated object storage provider and does not operate an integrated native CDN edge network. When choosing BYO-Storage with SumoPod, you automatically Bring Your Own CDN (BYO-CDN)—such as Akamai, Namecheap CDN, Cloudflare, Fastly, or Bunny CDN—or serve directly from origin at your own risk. SmallPict does NOT provide managed CDN for custom BYO-Storage (Managed CDN is reserved exclusively for SmallPict's managed storage). SmallPict fully supports third-party CDNs: simply enter your custom CDN domain in the SmallPict dashboard to automatically route optimized assets through your CDN.

Zero-Storage Retention Model
Does SmallPict keep or store copies of my files?

No. SmallPict operates on a strict ephemeral in-memory processing architecture. Assets are compressed in isolated volatile RAM buffers and immediately streamed directly to your designated SumoPod Storage bucket. SmallPict NEVER stores, retains, or maintains copies of your original or processed images on its servers.

Least-Privilege IAM

SmallPict requires only bucket-scoped read and write permissions (e.g. PutObject / GetObject). We never request or require administrative, project-wide, or account-wide credentials.

Private Bucket Support

Your SumoPod Storage buckets do NOT need to be public. SmallPict writes directly using authenticated API calls, and asset delivery is routed securely via CDN Origin Access Control or signed origins.

AES-256 Encryption

All API tokens and credentials stored in SmallPict are encrypted at rest using AES-256 GCM envelope encryption and never logged in plaintext.

Customer Sovereignty

You retain 100% data ownership and sovereignty. You can revoke credentials or rotate keys at any time directly in your SumoPod Object Storage console.

Technical FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear technical answers regarding SumoPod Object Storage storage integration, CDN cache headers, security policies, and performance.

1What is SumoPod BYO-Storage & Custom BYO-CDN Integration?
SumoPod (https://storage.sumopod.com) is a high-performance, cost-effective S3-compatible NVMe object storage service. Because SumoPod is a dedicated storage-only provider without an integrated native CDN, SmallPict operates under a complete Bring-Your-Own (BYO) model: you use SumoPod for durable storage and connect any third-party CDN of your choice (such as Akamai, Namecheap CDN, Cloudflare, Fastly, Bunny, etc.) for edge caching and global delivery.
2Can SmallPict optimize images stored in SumoPod Storage?
Yes. SmallPict connects seamlessly to your SumoPod bucket via its S3-compatible API (endpoint: https://storage.sumopod.com). When images are uploaded, SmallPict intercepts and compresses them into next-gen AVIF and WebP formats in ephemeral RAM buffers, then streams the optimized assets directly to your SumoPod storage bucket.
3Does SmallPict provide a CDN for SumoPod Storage, or do I need my own CDN (BYO-CDN)?
SmallPict does NOT provide managed CDN services for custom BYO-Storage setups. SmallPict's Managed CDN is reserved exclusively for SmallPict's internal managed storage. When you choose BYO-Storage with SumoPod, you automatically Bring Your Own CDN (BYO-CDN) as well, or deliver directly from the storage origin at your own risk. SmallPict fully supports any third-party CDN (such as Akamai, Namecheap CDN, Cloudflare, Fastly, etc.): simply input your custom CDN domain in the SmallPict dashboard, and SmallPict will format all asset URLs to use your CDN.
4Which third-party CDN platforms can I use with SumoPod (e.g. Akamai, Namecheap, Cloudflare)?
SmallPict is completely CDN-agnostic. You can use Akamai, Namecheap CDN, Cloudflare, Fastly, Bunny CDN, KeyCDN, AWS CloudFront, or any other CDN provider. Simply configure your CDN distribution to pull from your SumoPod bucket origin, then provide that CDN domain in SmallPict.
5How do I connect SumoPod storage and my BYO-CDN in the SmallPict dashboard?
Setup takes under 2 minutes: in the SmallPict dashboard, enter your SumoPod S3 Endpoint (https://storage.sumopod.com), Bucket Name, Access Key ID, and Secret Access Key. Then, enter your custom BYO-CDN domain (e.g., https://cdn.yourdomain.com). SmallPict will verify the connection, upload optimized images to SumoPod, and automatically serve them through your BYO-CDN.
6Can I use a private SumoPod Storage bucket?
Yes. SmallPict accesses your SumoPod bucket using authenticated S3 API keys (Access Key & Secret Key). Public asset delivery is handled by your BYO-CDN (e.g. Akamai, Namecheap, Cloudflare) communicating with the SumoPod origin.
7Does SmallPict require SumoPod administrative credentials?
No. SmallPict operates on least-privilege principles and only requires standard S3 API credentials with permissions strictly restricted to reading and writing objects (PutObject and GetObject) within your specific target bucket. We never ask for account-wide or administrative access.
8Does SmallPict alter or overwrite my original images in SumoPod?
By default, SmallPict generates modern optimized formats (.avif and .webp) alongside your original master files, preserving your original images untouched unless you explicitly configure in-place replacement.
9Where are optimized images stored?
All optimized images are stored directly in your own SumoPod bucket (https://storage.sumopod.com). SmallPict adheres to a 100% Bring-Your-Own-Storage (BYO) model with zero permanent data retention on SmallPict servers.
10How does caching work between SumoPod and my custom BYO-CDN?
SmallPict injects Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable headers into every optimized asset stored in SumoPod. When your custom BYO-CDN (Akamai, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.) fetches the asset, it caches it at edge nodes worldwide for up to one year, maximizing cache hit ratios (>99%) and virtually eliminating redundant requests to SumoPod.

Zero Egress Shock, Full Infrastructure Control

Deploy SmallPict with SumoPod Object Storage. Keep your media assets inside your own cloud account while enjoying automated AVIF/WebP encoding and enterprise edge acceleration.
